This blog is NOT for just my own comments… it’s a place for our show exhibitors and customers to comment or ask questions as well!
I’ll be posting monthly updates – generally around the 1st of the month – covering news for my artwork, JL & Sons shop, our Altona Outdoors Show and other events we may be involved with.

Hello…..beautiful work… I found your artwhile searching the web after attending the Albany Gun show…I see you set up your art at some of these shows…I am an antler carver always searching for the right type of show to display my work…do you have any recommendations in regards to gun shows…there was a nice crowd and there were alternative vendors…tools…leather belts etc….most of those vendors said they did well and the show costs are much cheaper than some of the larger shows I do…I am currently working on carving gun stocks to expand on my antler work…any suggestions would be greatly appreciated…our work looks like it would do well in similar venues..Thanks…Will Charbonneau www.antlersculpture.com

Six of us gathered at Iris’ in Plattsburgh last night to form a new group that supports small business women’s ventures. We discussed how we attract new customers, shared event dates and contact information, and ended up comparing credit card merchant accounts. The group was Ellie Roberts and Tracy Graves brainchild, and they came prepared with paperwork to share and an agenda of things to open discussions – thanks Ellie and Tracy! The rest of us told a little about ourselves and passed around cards and info as well. A nice networking start! The next meeting will be in early February – probably on a Wednesday again – watch for the announcements! (NOTE: this particular group is NOT just for home-based biz, but rather a women’s biz support group)

We got in 600 really cool jigs last week – and another 500 will be here on Thursday – along with a few other ice fishing supplies. By this time next year, JL & Sons will be THE place to go for ice fishing stuff! have spikes & wax worms now – thinking live bait for spring… need to do a little renovating of the back room first

We saw Wendy last weekend at the Chesterfield Sports Expo – she had three gorgeous birds with her and was full of wonderful information – wish I could have just sat there and listened all afternoon… anywho… she’s joining our show in March for a presentation on Sunday and for a raffle to benefit one of their program needs such as a bald eagle enclosure, rehab barn or multi-acre wolf enclosure. I’ll post more info with show announcements, but here is their website in case anyone is curious about this great program www.adirondackwildlife.org
