In 1979, four years after his first turkey hunt in upstate New York, Ted Nassivera Sr. began his journey of patience
and perfection. He, along with his son, Ted Jr. entered their first turkey calling contest at the Vermont State
Championship. Although Ted Sr. did not place in the competition, Ted Jr. finished third in the junoir division at age
twelve. It was at that moment that their lives changed forever.
By 1985, Ted Sr. had won over 40 titles, coming in the top ten in world friction, the US Open, The Grand Nationals
and numerous state and local competitions. Although he wasn't able to travel as much as his father, Ted Jr. had
himself won and placed in numerous contests as a junior. In the fall of 1985, Ted Sr. and Jr. decided to take time
from competing. Ted Sr. went to Siena College and got his B.S. degree in Marketing Management and Ted Jr. joined
the Air Force and served in the Middle East during Desert Storm. In 2001, Jr wanted back in the calling circuit, so he
and his father went to the Maine State Championship and finished last and next to last. But that would not happen
again.
That summer they went back to the basics and in 2003, Ted Jr. won the Maine State Championship and qualified for
his first Grand National appearance in Columbus, OH. In 2004, shortly after the spring contests, Ted Sr. went to Ted
Jr. with the idea of making and selling mouth calls to help offset the costs of travel to competitions. So, in the
summer of 2004, TSN Turkey Calls was born with just four mouth calls.
Since then, father and son have won over 35 titles and qualified and/or competed in 9 combined Grand National
Championships enroute to a top 20 finish for Ted Jr. in 2006. But the real glory came in the fall of 2005 when Ted
Sr. Took home the Championship trophy from Maynooth, Ontario, winning the Canadian Grand Nationals and
beating the best callers in the world.
Today, TSN manufactures over 36 products. 23 mouth calls including our Deep Reed Series for kids, small pallets
and denture wearers, 7 pot calls including our top selling TITAN copper and PHANTOM brass and an assortment of
strikers for any hunting situation are just a few. Recently, our custon call division has sold over 200 calls and
growing, building calls for conservation groups, weddings and individuals with a memory to keep.
